"The First with the Most"
e talk a lot at Glenair about "value." In fact, we proudly say we are the "best-value" supplier of interconnect solutions in the industry. But what exactly do we mean when we say "best-value?"
There is an expression in the aerospace industry, "aircraft on ground," which conjures up painful images for airplane owners and operators. It's used to describe a plane which is grounded from flying until a critical maintenance or repair problem can be addressed - a costly state of affairs to say the least. The marine industry has an equivalent concern when it comes to repair-yard dock fees, which for deep-water tankers and cargo carriers can reach upwards of $100,000 per day. Industrial customers, with their just-in-time manufacturing and lean inventory programs are equally aware of the cost of not having necessary parts on hand when and where they are needed. For many such customers, the true "value" of a badly needed component or service is incalculable when compared to the overwhelming impact an unavailable, late or defective component can have on their operation. We routinely describe the needs of such customers in terms of "fast turnaround, quality, and ease of doing business." But another way to appreciate what our customers consider valuable is expressed in one our most important guiding principles, that of being "the first with the most." Glenair's Air Borne Controls division, together with our Microway Systems division and Miles Roystone group are perfect examples of this principle in action: All three divisions build engineered cable assemblies for applications where high levels of quality, reliability and performance are essential. All three are positioned to serve military, commercial and industrial customers with service levels designed to fit the "mission-critical" nature of their highly specialized applications. And all three rely on speed (the "first") and quality (the "most") as standard operating procedure for meeting the needs of their customers. ABC's success in building more than 35,000 fault-free TIFTAC assemblies throughout the past 15 years is a powerful testament to their ability to deliver on Glenair's "best-value" and "first with the most" customer service commitments. Together with our Miles Roystone and Microway Systems groups, ABC is setting the standard for quality and service in the interconnect cable assembly market. Please join me in congratulating ABC on their award-winning performance in servicing the F-16 TIFTAC program, and for their dedication to providing all of their customers with on-time and defect-free products - the "best-values" in the interconnect industry.
