Let's get small...with Microway

Brenda’s job, and that of her skilled team of co-workers, is to bring to fruition the many hours of labor which go into producing Micro-D Connectors, MicroStrips, backshells, accessories and the other products designed and built at Glenair’s newest product division - Microway Systems. Across the floor, Svetlana, her faced glued to a Comparator screen, is examining the magnified image of two long rows of contacts in a Microway MicroEdgeboard. Svetlana is "ground-zero" in Microway’s intense quality control and inspection process. The hum of distant machine tools creates a not unpleasant white noise around her and the other inspectors, which serves to isolate the group from the friendly chatter of the nearby assembly workers. Even without the cushion of noise, Svetlana is not easily distracted from her work - which today consists of inspecting the true position of contacts against the exact tolerances specified by the customer. Like all Microway inspectors, she takes her role very seriously; in large part because, with the exception of fiber optics, no other Glenair product must be engineered and produced to such exacting tolerances as Microway’s micro and nano connectors.
