

renda holds a microminiature solder cup in her right hand and prepares to insert the 51 contact pins into the mating face of a connector. Although she is certainly using her eyes, it is clearly more a matter of touch which allows her to finesse the three rows of miniature pins into the plastic face. "There," she says, and places the connector on the waiting tray, together with the dozen or so other products she has already assembled this morning. At Glenair's Microway Systems division in Lincolnwood, Illinois, Brenda's skill - in many ways her art - is to tease and cajole the miniature twistpins and socket contacts, some as small as #30 AWG wire, into their final assembled form.
