QwikConnect Volume 4, Number 3 - Fiber Optic Test Probes and Adaptors Make their Mark

xamination and troubleshooting of fiber optic systems is now considerably easier, thanks to recent enhancements in Glenair’s patent pending fiber optic test probes and adaptors. Designed for use in both factory settings as well as in the field, Glenair’s test probes eliminate the need for complex and expensive test harnesses with their limited use insert arrangements and key configurations.

Currently in use in a range of both military and commercial applications, the test probe enables reliable discovery of damaged or broken optical cable segments. The recently enhanced test probe now features a tension spring which applies pressure at the connector/termini junction to simulate conditions found in actual use. A built-in insertion and removal mechanism facilitates accurate alignment of the test probe. Adaptor enhancements include built-in retention cups to secure the probe during testing, and removable socket inserts to aid in the replacement of damaged ceramic alignment sleeves.
