lenair has enjoyed a mutually beneficial business relationship with Microway Systems of Chicago since the company was founded in 1986.  A leader in the design and manufacture of twist-pin connectors, Microway is the OEM source for Glenair United Kingdom’s “Miles Roystone” line of microconnectors and assemblies. Now, in a move that will create new opportunities for growth and expansion both in Europe and in North America, Microway has joined Glenair as the company’s newest product division.

“Microway manufactures a very innovative line of microconnectors,” says Dr. Richard Zic, the division’s founder and new Glenair Technical Director. “Our  twist pin contact design is MIL-C-83513 approved, and provides outstanding reliability.  Our product line includes micro twist pin contacts in 30, 24, and 22 Awg microminiature hybrid connectors, 30 Awg stackable connectors, connector savers, and custom micro and nano connectors and assemblies.  It is a very complementary product family for Glenair, and a natural area for growth given our history of success in Europe.”

Microway currently has some 50 employees at its Lincolnwood, Illinois facility which includes a complete machine shop with twelve CNC machining centers, EDM equipment, and an Arburg molding press.  Microway’s staff includes engineers, programmers, machinists, and mold makers. The new division will be known as Glenair’s Microway division, and the product line will be referred to as Glenair’s “Microway” Twist-Pin Connectors and Assemblies.
