Engineering and Product Support Specialist

Special Employment Notice

Glenair, Inc., a leading manufacturer of mil/aero interconnect products, has openings for technical support staff to perform sales and applications engineering, answering technical inquiries from engineers and designers around the world. Be part of the Interconnection "A" Team supporting the implementation of next-generation interconnect solutions as well as our huge base of existing product lines. This position is full-time temporary with a pathway to regular employment after about 3 months, based on performance.

We're looking for folks with mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn the technical requirements of high-reliability interconnection systems, including military standard-type cylindrical and rectangular connectors, connector accessories, conduit assemblies, cable assemblies and/or wire harnesses. Among many other activities, you'll work with customers on technical questions, help them solve their interconnection challenges, and set up new build-to-order production packages.

It's likely you'll have (or will soon have) a Bachelor's degree in engineering technology, technology management, mechanical engineering or similar technical degree program, although we'll consider good people with other educational backgrounds who can demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, such as the ability to read a blue print or schematic.

Since this work involves regular communication with Glenair colleagues, customers, vendors and others, you'll need to be able speak clearly, spell correctly and put together grammatically correct sentences. This will involve verbal, written, and visual communication that optimizes Glenair's reputation by being both persuasive and helpful.

We're a pretty "adult" employer and we don't micro-manage people, so we need you to be able to work independently with focus. You'll also have to be able to keep multiple simultaneous projects organized. We're only interested in hands-on folks who are able and willing to travel throughout the factory to get the "real facts" for yourself, pull together complete work product packages, keep projects on course and resolve challenges.

You'll have to possess basic computer savvy with a good background in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Experience with CadKey or AutoCad (2D) or any of the popular 3D CAD is a plus (Inventor, PRO/E, Solid Works, CATIA, etc).

We expect you will have some paid work experience, even if not in a technical field. We'll provide needed training, both in formal classroom, and informal, on-the-job, settings.

People who come to work for Glenair tend to stay for a long time, so we're pretty picky about whom we hire. We're very traditional in some ways and very progressive in others. For instance, it's a pretty conservative work environment where we expect people to dress professionally, maintain decorum and treat each other with courtesy. Yet, there's no limit to your success at Glenair—we help people identify their highest and best use, let them thrive, and offer good compensation.

Once a regular employee, you'll be eligible for medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage as well as vacation accrual. After a full year of regular employment, we'll evaluate you to determine if you've earned participation in our profit sharing incentive plan paid in cash each month we exceed our company sales target.

Please send us a brief description of how your background meets our needs. Apply using our Employment Inquiry Form.
